The Importance of Taking Action

    Child trafficking is an ever growing business that will continue to expand and afflict millions of children with pain and suffering. To create a better world, something envisioned by many of our great past and current leaders, child trafficking must end. With everyone participating, it is possible to wipe this horrific act from Earth and finally start the long process of restoration towards peace and every child's life. The importance is awareness and education. Listed below are some domestic and international organizations designated to help stop child trafficking. There are also extra links for further research. Every action counts.

Stop Child Trafficking Now



Stop child trafficking now (SCTN) is a US based organization formed to make an impact in the fight against domestic child sex trafficking. This organization uses funds to stop the demand and also partners with other non-profit groups that provide other aid to victims.

UNICEF




United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) is a non profit organization created by the United Nations to aid children in 190 countries by providing health care, clean water and sanitation,  nutrition, education, emergency relief, and more. It currently has a campaign to end all forms of child trafficking. 


The Project to End Human Trafficking





The Project to End Human Trafficking (PEHT) is a Pennsylvania based organization that was at first created only for the purpose of educating people on human trafficking. It has since grown to providing direct service to victims. PEHT works not only domestically, but also internationally, partnering with other organizations in their global fight against human trafficking. 


Not For Sale



Not for sale is a non-profit organization founded by David Batstone. It fights international modern day slavery by taking donated funds and creating rehabilitation centers in affected areas like Thailand and India. This organization also provides a job for victims, education, and advises companies so that they have supply chains that are not dominated with trafficked humans. In the year 2012, they have helped 1450 people and the number is growing. 

HumanTrafficking.org




Humantrafficking.org is a web resource for combating human trafficking. This site has up to date information on trafficking news, a monthly newsletter providing all the latest on human trafficking, and profiles of different countries where trafficking occurs. In the profiles, there are information on causes of human trafficking, persecution, protection, prevention, and much more for every single country.

Human Rights Watch



Human rights watch is a independent organization dedicated to defending and protecting human rights. This is an up to date news source on a variety of topics. The second link is a 2003 story of trafficked children from Togo. Included in the article are riveting personal accounts from trafficked children. Some are as young as nine!

IRIN News




IRIN is a site that focuses on humanitarian news and analysis. It is a service under the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs. This site has news, videos, photos, and films on many different topics. The second link provided is another account from a young Ghana girl who was trafficked.
